Information On Our Kittens

Getting a Wyld Rex kitten involves the following....

Your Kitten

Kittens will leave no earlier than 14 weeks old. This is a crucial time for socialization for your kitten and Devons are slightly slower to develop than some other breeds.  At 14 weeks of age, they are still very tiny.

Spay/Neuter

All kittens being placed in pet homes will be spayed or neutered before leaving my home.

Vaccinations and Parasite Prevention

This includes their first two FVRCP boosters and Revolution Plus/Pyrantel. Rabies and the final FVRCP booster will be due shortly upon kitten collection and be the responsibility of the new family.  Getting your Wyldling established and familiar with a veterinarian of your choice to set them up for future wellness, as well as making sure they can continue to get their parasite prevention for the next 12 months. Most vets require an annual visit to continue to dispense prescriptions and will not dispense any medications to a pet they have never seen.

Microchip

Your kitten will be microchipped and microchip information along with tag and number will be provided. You can use your sales contract as proof of ownership when changing all details registered with the microchip company into your name. Feel free to list my details as a secondary contact for an extra safety measure. This way, if you are unreachable for whatever reason, I can step in and provide further details to help reunite you with your baby should the unthinkable happen.

Donation to Emancipet

Out of the purchase price of every kitten, $100 dollars is donated to Emancipet when each kitten gets spayed/neutered. Emancipet is a non-profit organization that helps increase access to veterinary care for ANYONE.  There is no discrimination or qualification of income needed to access this care.

5 Year Health Guarantee

This cat/kitten is guaranteed against all hereditary defects up to the age of five years. Should a hereditary defect appear within five years, it must be documented by a licensed veterinarian. Upon supplying the Breeder with this documentation, the Breeder will replace this cat/kitten with another of equal value as available.

Feline Infectious Peritonitis Protection

Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP) is a disease in cats caused by a mutation of the feline coronavirus. Feline enteric coronavirus (FECV) is as common in cats as the common cold and flu are in humans and is generally considered benign and self-limiting. Cats infected with coronavirus have very mild if ANY symptoms and it resolves itself. However, in a small percentage of cats infected with the coronavirus, either by mutation or an anomaly of the cat’s individual immune system’s response, the infection progresses into clinical FIP. Once a cat develops clinical FIP, the disease rapidly progresses and is almost always fatal without immediate and intensive intervention.

There is no definitive tool for detecting FIP in living cats currently.

However, in recent years, scientific progress has been made to successfully treat FIP. Although medication is not readily available to the mainstream, treatment options are available and accessible. FIP is no longer considered incurable.

This section is included because there is much misinformation and misunderstanding about FIP and FECV feline enteric coronavirus (even within the veterinary community). FECV titers often called “FIP tests” are not an accurate or effective way to test for FIP. Just because a cat tests positive for coronavirus, it does not mean that it has, or ever will develop FIP. Because the coronavirus is so prevalent in cats, it is impossible to guarantee a cat against FIP. If suspected FIP should develop in any Wyld Rex cat or kitten under the age of 5 years, buyer agrees to contact breeder immediately for assistance and treatment guidance. We will help cover the cost of treatment UP TO the cost of the kitten/cat. In the event the cat/kitten does not survive, the Breeder will replace this cat/kitten with another cat/kitten of equal value. Shipping costs will be the buyer’s responsibility.

Lifetime Support

You will be able to contact me for ANY reason for the life of your kitten/cat. I am a veterinarian by day and a Devon Rex/cat fanatic 24/7/365. All Wyldlings are a part of our family.  We are with them from the moment they arrive into this world and obsessed with them ever after.   We love seeing updates or hearing funny stories about the things they have done.  We have a closed group on Facebook so that everyone with a Wyldling can keep up with littermates as well as let us know if any issues arise—but mostly just gaze at cute cat photos!

Registration Papers

Kittens will go home with a TICA slip to register them if they wish. CFA registration is also possible. Just let us know!

Kitten Bags

Kittens are sent home with a goodie bag that includes their contracts and papers, toys, vaccination records, toys, microchip details, 2lb bag of food, and more toys!

Pricing

As of January 2024, our kittens are $2500. It is free to sign up for the waitlist. Kittens will be made available to members of our waitlist first before being offered to the public. At approximately 8 weeks of age, an announcement will be made to our waitlist when kittens become available to reserve and matches will be made based on several variables—time on waitlist, specific preferences (color, sex, etc.), homes taking two kittens will get priority.

We want the best situation for everyone involved! This means there is likely to be some waiting for the perfect kitten. We do not produce to meet the demands of a waitlist. This is not a “business.” This is a passion and a hobby of ours. We do not have very many litters per year and Devons usually have only 2-4 kittens per litter. The only thing I can guarantee you is that it will be worth the wait.

Feel free to ask any questions you might have.
